求學期間東海大學與教育部有很多給予僑外生與國際學生在生活上的幫助，有很多獎助學金可以申請以減輕生活上的壓力，如果成績優異會有更多的獎學金可以申請，這些都給生活上帶來很多幫助。最可貴的是在校期間系上會與產業有很多鏈接，提供有興趣的學生可以有實習的機會，這在之後的就業或是要回國從事畜產業都有極大幫助。

Tunghai University and the Ministry of Education provide a lot of help to overseas students and international students during their studies. There are many scholarships and bursaries that you can apply for to reduce the pressure in life. If you have excellent grades, you can apply for more scholarships. These all give a lot of help in life. The most valuable thing is that the department will have many links with industry during school, providing interested students with internship opportunities, which will be of great help in future employment or return to Myanmar to engage in the livestock industry.

Sharing study experience

My name is Wang Qiquan from Lashio in northern Myanmar. I graduated from the Department of Animal Science and Biotechnology of Tunghai University in 2022. After I graduated from high school in Myanmar, I had no plan to continue studying in college, but by chance I came into contact with the pig industry in Myanmar. I had more than a year of pig raising experience. In the process, I saw the development of the livestock industry in Myanmar. Although I found livestock that has great prospects and opportunities, also it lacked the knowledge and skills, so I decided to come to Taiwan to study .
I am glad that the department I chose is what I want. During the study period, Tunghai University and the Ministry of Education provide a lot of help to overseas students and international students in their daily lives. There are many scholarships and bursaries that you can apply for to reduce the pressure in life. If you have excellent grades, you can apply for more scholarships which bring a lot of help to life. The most valuable thing is that the department will have many links with industry during school, providing interested students with internship opportunities, which will be of great help in future employment or returning to Myanmar to engage in the livestock industry.

Studying in Taiwan will really bring you a lot. In Taiwan, you will be exposed to many things that you have never been exposed to in Myanmar. For me, in addition to learning more knowledge about animal husbandry and management, studying Animal Science is more important. We can have a deeper understanding of the livestock industry and livestock-related industries to discover that the livestock industry has more development space and opportunities in Myanmar.

The Department of Animal Science and Biotechnology in Tunghai is one of the few animal science departments in universities in Taiwan. It welcomes foreign students or overseas students who are interested in animal husbandry or want to engage in animal husbandry. Competition in all industries is fierce, but food is something that people cannot lack ,there are really great development opportunities for animal husbandry in Southeast Asia, so I am really encouraged to study in the Department of Animal Science and Biotechnology of Tunghai University.

我叫王啟權來自緬甸北部臘戌，2022年畢業於東海大學畜產與生物科技學系。我在緬甸高中畢業後，本來沒有規劃要繼續讀大學，但偶然的機會我在緬甸接觸到了養豬產業，有過一年多的養豬經歷，在這過程中我看到了畜牧產業在緬甸的前景與機會，但同時也很欠缺養豬的知識與技術，因此便決定來台灣繼續深造。
在完全不了解大學裡什麼是跟畜產相關的科系的情況下，在填志願時選了字面上有畜產兩字的東海畜產與生物科技學系，很慶幸所選的科系是符合我所想要讀的科系。在求學期間東海大學與教育部有很多給予僑外生與國際學生在生活上的幫助，有很多獎助學金可以申請以減輕生活上的壓力，如果成績優異會有更多的獎學金可以申請，這些都給生活上帶來很多幫助。最可貴的是在校期間系上會與產業有很多鏈接，提供有興趣的學生可以有實習的機會，這在之後的就業或是要回國從事畜產業都有極大幫助。

來台灣讀書真的會有很多的收穫，在台灣可以接觸到很多在緬甸從未接觸過的事，對於我讀畜產系除了可以學習到更多的飼養管理知識外，更重要的是可以接觸或可以更深的去了解畜產這個產業，以及與畜產相關的產業一致於去發現畜產業在緬甸有更多的發展空間與機會。

東海畜產與生物科技學系是台灣的大學不多的畜產系之一，很歡迎對畜牧有興趣或想要從事畜牧的外國學生或僑外生來就讀，各個產業都競爭激烈，但是食物是人們不可缺少的東西，特別是在東南亞畜牧真的有很大的發展機會，所以真的很鼓勵來東海大學畜產與生物科技學系就讀。

I was greatly helped by the academic staff in my department. They can communicate in English well, making it easier for me to interact with them when there are problems related to my academics and always provide precise solutions. They care about me.

Why do you choose our department study?

Deciding to choose to continue my degree (as PhD student) at Tunghai University, Taiwan was definitely a well-made choice. Taiwan is a safety and friendly country to stay and study. At Department of Animal Science and Biotechnology, Tunghai University, I found the Professor (my advisor) that has the same research field with me. In addition, the staff and lecturers always try to provide students the support they need to study comfortably by teaching and speaking in English fluently, having well equipped facilities, and a pleasant study environment. The lecturers and staff are very friendly and helpful, too!

Mengapa Anda memilih jurusan kami?
Memutuskan untuk melanjutkan gelar saya (sebagai mahasiswa PhD) di Universitas Tunghai, Taiwan jelas merupakan pilihan yang dibuat dengan baik. Taiwan adalah negara yang aman dan ramah untuk tinggal dan belajar. Di Departemen Ilmu Hewan dan Bioteknologi, Universitas Tunghai, saya menemukan Profesor (Advisor saya) yang memiliki bidang penelitian yang sama dengan saya. Selain itu, staf dan dosen selalu berusaha memberikan dukungan yang dibutuhkan mahasiswa untuk belajar dengan nyaman dengan mengajar dan berkomunikasi dalam bahasa Inggris dengan lancar, memiliki fasilitas yang lengkap, dan lingkungan belajar yang menyenangkan. Dosen dan staf juga sangat ramah dan membantu.

Do the THU help you study? Like scholarship? Live? Or other?

Yes, indeed. THU provides scholarships from the school itself and also has other scholarships in collaboration with the Taiwan ministry of education. And I got a scholarship from this ministry of education.
The international office staff guided my arrival at THU during the Covid-19 pandemic well and carefully since I was still in Indonesia, they prepared it very well. Furthermore, they also help to provide solutions to my problems as an international student.

Apakah THU membantu Anda belajar? Bagaimana dengan beasiswa? Atau yang lainnya?
Tentunya. THU menawarkan beasiswa dari kampus THU itu sendiri dan juga menawarkan beasiswa lain yang bekerja sama dengan kementerian pendidikan Taiwan (MOE). Dan saya mendapat beasiswa dari kementerian pendidikan ini.
Staff international office memandu kedatangan saya di THU selama pandemi Covid-19 dengan baik dan hati-hati sejak saya masih di Indonesia, mereka mempersiapkannya dengan sangat baik. Selain itu, mereka juga membantu memberikan solusi untuk masalah saya sebagai siswa internasional.
Secara khusus, saya sangat terbantu oleh staf akademik di departemen saya (Animal Science and Biotechnology). Mereka dapat berkomunikasi dalam bahasa Inggris dengan baik, memudahkan saya untuk berinteraksi dengan mereka ketika ada masalah yang berkaitan dengan akademik dan selalu memberikan solusi yang tepat. Mereka peduli pada saya.

Do you learn and get something in THU so far?

Of course. Besides, I learned more about academics and research from professors in my department, and I also learned how to interact with new people from different cultures than Indonesia. At THU campus, I also made new friends from Taiwan itself, Hong Kong, India, Japan, and England, which improved my language skills as well as opened my insight into other countries.

Apakah Anda belajar dan mendapatkan sesuatu di THU sejauh ini?
Tentu saja. Selain saya belajar lebih banyak tentang akademik dan penelitian dari professor-profesor di departemen saya, saya juga belajar bagaimana berinteraksi dengan orang-orang baru dengan budaya yang berbeda dari Indonesia. Di kampus THU, saya juga mendapat teman baru dari Taiwan itu sendiri, Hongkong, India, Jepang, dan Inggris, yang membantu meningkatkan dan melancarkan kemampuan bahasa saya sekaligus membuka wawasan saya tentang negara lain.

Will you suggest your country’s people come THU to study?

Sure, I will. In terms of the learning atmosphere, THU is very supportive because the THU campus area is a large and green campus and has a large sports area in some places as well. Moreover, it has the heritage or special buildings such as the beautiful Luce Chapel, dairy farm, deer farm, mini horse stable, and Tunghai Lake which is an interesting campus to visit.

Apakah Anda akan menyarankan orang-orang di negara Anda melanjutkan studi di THU?
Tentu, saya akan melakukannya. Dari segi suasana belajar, THU sangat mendukung karena area kampus THU merupakan kampus yang luas dan hijau serta memiliki area olahraga yang luas di beberapa tempat juga. Apalagi memiliki warisan atau bangunan istimewa seperti Luce Chapel yang mempesona, peternakan sapi perah, peternakan rusa, kandang kuda mini, dan Danau Tunghai yang menjadikan THU sebagai kampus yang menarik untuk dikunjungi dan melanjutkan studi.

(1) 為什麼會選擇來台灣讀書?
因為家裡是養豬雞起家的，我現在算是第三代，再加上有不少獸醫都是台灣畢業的他們也推薦來這裡。

(2) 系上對於國際學生的學習、生活上幫助有甚麼?
有，幫助我們了解到畜產業格局，而且系上老師們都很照顧我們，畢業後也提供了不少幫助。

(3) 來台灣讀書收穫是什麼?
可以看到台灣的文化美食之類的，以及了解外國畜產業的不同

(4) 有推薦自己國家學生來東海就讀嗎?
有，推薦喔。目前有推薦親戚來就讀。

(1) Why did you choose to study in Taiwan?
Because my family started raising pigs and chickens, I am now considered the third generation. In addition, many veterinarians graduated from Taiwan and they also recommended coming here.

(2) How the department help international students in their study and life?
Yes, it helped us understand the pattern of the livestock industry, and the teachers in the department took good care of us and provided a lot of help after graduation.

(3) What do you gain from studying in Taiwan?
You can see Taiwan’s culture and food, as well as learn about the differences in foreign livestock industries.

(4) Do you recommend students from your own country to study in Donghai?
Yes, recommended. Currently, I am recommending relatives to study.
