Laboratory

Molecular Biology and Cellular Physiology Laboratory (AG309)

The research focuses on molecular biology and cellular physiology, specifically investigating the molecular mechanisms and regulation of livestock growth, as well as
studying the physiological functions in cells. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-theart instruments for studying these molecular mechanisms. These include a cell culture room, a laminar airflow workstation, a fluorescence microscope, 2-D electrophoresis equipment, an image analysis system, a spectrophotometer, an ELISA reader, and a fume hood.

Physiology Laboratory in Deer Barn
Formerly the office for the deer husbandry team, the Physiology Laboratory in Deer Barn evolved due to our department’s involvement in the Taiwan Formosan Sika Deer conservation project. This initiative led to the establishment of a dedicated physiology laboratory to conduct research on the physiological aspects of Formosan Sika Deer. The laboratory serves as a valuable resource for ongoing studies and also offers students practical internship opportunities. This lab equipped with a cell culture room and instruments for molecular biology experiments, the laboratory specializes in research areas such as nutritional physiology, reproductive physiology, and molecular biology related to deer physiology.

Molecular Biology Laboratory (AG208 & AG209)
This laboratory was established in 2004 and functions as a practical training space for students, providing courses such as Biotechnology Experimentation, Advanced
Biotechnology Experimentation, and Biochemical Experimentation. The laboratory is equipped with instruments including a laminar airflow workstation, cell culture incubator, inverted microscope, gas Chromatography, ultracentrifuge, automated nucleic acid genetic analyzer, perfusion protein purification system, nucleic acid gel electrophoresis imaging system, as well as a variety of molecular biology and biotechnology apparatus.

Molecular and Cellular Laboratory (II) AG207

Livestock Processing Laboratory (II) AG107

This laboratory was established in 2011, equipped with additional processing facilities such as freezing and refrigeration units, water heaters, air conditioning systems, stainless steel workbenches, sinks, and ice crushers to improve its foundational infrastructure. Specifically tailored for undergraduate student internships, the laboratory functions as a hands-on environment where theoretical knowledge is seamlessly integrated with practical applications. Through direct involvement in operational activities and the manufacturing process, students gain a deeper understanding of the course content. To augment the learning experience, the laboratory consistently arranges intercollegiate competitions focused on processing livestock products. This proactive initiative guarantees that students derive benefits from a harmonized blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, ultimately optimizing their learning outcomes. The laboratory is assisted by a dedicated teaching assistant, tasked not just with providing guidance in practical operations but also with overseeing and coordinating the efficient utilization of the laboratory.

Nutrition Laboratory (II) AG111

Cell Culture Room
This laboratory is specifically designated for cell culture activities. Rigorous access control measures are enforced to prevent contamination of experimental samples.
